To Be Cautious

Dear Lord please be with us this day and please may Your Holy Spirit be guiding and protecting us in every thing that we say and do. Thank You for all of the great gifts and the blessings and the protection that You give us and please forgive our sins the same as we forgive the mistakes of others.

Dear Lord please lead us into caution as we mix and mingle with Your Children in Your Creation and may we be understanding of the many pitfalls that might be on the paths that we must take even though we can see what has happened to others who were not careful as we seek Your Kingdom among the many temptations of this world, in Jesus Christ's name we pray, amen.

Quotation:*

The scars of others should teach us caution. -Saint Jerome

KJV*

Pr 3:21 My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion:

Pr 3:22 So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck.

Pr 3:23 Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble.

Pr 3:24 When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.

Pr 3:25 Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh.

Pr 3:26 For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.

Pr 3:27 Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.

Pr 3:28 Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee.

Pr 3:29 Devise not evil against thy neighbour, seeing he dwelleth securely by thee.

Pr 3:30 Strive not with a man without cause, if he have done thee no harm.

Pr 3:31 Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways.

Pr 3:32 For the froward is abomination to the LORD: but his secret is with the righteous.

Pr 3:33 The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just.

Pr 3:34 Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly.

Pr 3:35 The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools.

1Co 10:6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.

1Co 10:7 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.

1Co 10:8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.

1Co 10:9 Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.

1Co 10:10 Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.

1Co 10:11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

1Co 10:12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

1Co 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

1Co 10:14 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.

1Co 10:15 I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say.

1Co 10:16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?

1Co 10:17 For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.

1Co 10:18 Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar?

1Co 10:19 What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing?

1Co 10:20 But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.

1Co 10:21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils.

1Co 10:22 Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?

1Co 10:23 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.

1Co 6:12 All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.

As The Commentary of Doddridge in the Power Bible cd.

1 Corinthians 6:12 1Co 6:12

6:Verse 12. I KNOW some of you at Corinth allow yourselves to philosophize with great liberty, and find many excuses for doing things which others conscientiously scruple: but as matters at present stand, I think it necessary to give you some cautions upon this head. Suppose the things in question to be as indifferent in their own nature as many of you would fain persuade yourselves and others they are: I will, for argument’s sake, grant that  all these things are lawful for me; but at the same time you must acknowledge, if you reflect ever so little, that all such things are not convenient: circumstances may make it improper for me to do that which is not absolutely and universally criminal. And though it be allowed that all things in question are lawful for me, nevertheless I will not be brought under the power of any such thing: but am solicitous to maintain such a superiority to appetite and passion as becomes a man and a Christian in these cases.
