Pitfalls of Temptation

Dear Lord please be with us this day and please may Your Holy Spirit be guiding and protecting us in every thing that we say and do. Thank You for all of the great gifts and blessings and protection that You give us and please forgive our sins the same as we forgive the mistakes of others.
Dear Lord please lead us into paths of goodwill even as we must walk close to the pitfalls of selfishness and covetousness, please help us maneuver around these temptations and live our lives according to the positive actions and thinking that are in accordance with the golden rule and the teachings of Jesus Christ, in Jesus Christ's name we pray, amen.

Quotation:*
It is the oldest temptation in the world, and the most fruitful parent of sins, and the most dangerous temptation- in that it contains so much truth- to regard self rather than God as the center in which spiritual effort must originate. --R.H. Benson

KJV*
Pr 4:14 Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.
Pr 4:15 Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.
Pr 4:16 For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.
Pr 4:17 For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.
Pr 4:18 But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
Pr 4:19 The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.

Joh 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

Ga 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
Ga 5:17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

Mt 7:12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

Mt 6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
